Most people who sail from New Orleans don't live here. The port said in January 2026 that 90% of its cruise passengers come from out of state, and that 70% of those spend one or two days in the city. If you are flying in, a night before the cruise takes the stress out of a delayed flight.

The port doesn't recommend hotels. Its own page sends you to New Orleans & Company and Go NOLA to search. What follows is what each hotel's own website says about cruise passengers, as read on October 23, 2026. Room rates aren't listed, because they change daily.

Within walking distance of the terminals

The terminals sit on the riverfront by the Riverwalk outlets and the Convention Center, so the closest hotels are in the Warehouse District and the Central Business District.

Hilton New Orleans Riverside, Two Poydras Street. Its location page lists the cruise terminal 0.4 miles away, and its cruise page says you can walk through the Riverwalk to the terminal. The cruise page offers discounted self-parking at $24 a day instead of the usual $50, baggage storage and late checkout. Its offers page describes a different deal: a Cruise & Park package with one night of parking, up to seven more days at 15% off and a guaranteed 1 p.m. checkout. Ask which one applies when you book.

Embassy Suites by Hilton New Orleans, 315 Julia Street. The hotel lists the cruise terminals 0.10 miles away. Self-parking was $50 a day, with a clearance of 6 feet 9 inches. It has no cruise package.

Hilton Garden Inn New Orleans Convention Center, 1001 South Peters Street. The hotel lists the Port of New Orleans 0.33 miles away. Parking is valet only, at $49. No cruise package.

SpringHill Suites New Orleans Warehouse Arts District, 301 St. Joseph Street. Marriott's page for cruise passengers puts it 0.4 miles from the terminals, within walking distance. Valet parking was $47 a day, and the hotel says parking is limited and not guaranteed.

Hampton Inn & Suites New Orleans Convention Center, 1201 Convention Center Boulevard. Its home page mentions a free shuttle and cruise packages, and extended cruise parking at $22 plus tax a night. The offers page listed no cruise package, so ask about both before you book.

Park-and-cruise packages further out

These hotels let you leave the car while you sail. None of them mentions a shuttle to the port, so budget for a taxi or a rideshare.

The Mercantile Hotel, 727 South Peters Street. A Stay, Park & Cruise package with one night, breakfast and parking for 4, 5, 7 or 8 days, plus late checkout if there's room. The hotel names Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian passengers.

Holiday Inn New Orleans Downtown Superdome, 330 Loyola Avenue. Park and Cruise packages for up to six or up to eight nights of garage parking. The garage takes vehicles up to 6 feet 8 inches tall and no oversized vehicles. The hotel says it has no shuttle.

Hotel Maison Saint Charles, 1319 St. Charles Avenue. A Park & Cruise package that keeps your car in its lot for up to seven nights, with extra nights at $15 each.

Other cruise offers

voco St. James Hotel, 330 Magazine Street, gives cruise guests a $20 Uber gift card for the ride to the terminal. Valet parking was $47.90 a night plus tax, and there is no park-and-cruise package.

The Quisby, 1225 St. Charles Avenue, takes 10% off a direct booking if you show your cruise ticket.

Getting from the hotel to the ship

From the closest hotels you can walk with light bags. Otherwise a taxi or rideshare is the simple option, and from near Canal Street the Riverfront streetcar runs to Julia Station. If you are driving and staying in a hotel without a package, compare its nightly parking with the port's own garages in the parking guide: some hotels charge $47 to $50 a night, while the port charged $180 for seven days on October 23, 2026.
